Molestation trial ordered for pastor

GUTHRIE (AP) - The pastor of a Logan County church has been
ordered to stand trial on charges he molested a 10-year-old boy in August.
Gordon Earl Hoefer, 57, of Guthrie has been charged in Logan
County District Court with lewd molestation, prosecutors
said. Hoefer is a minister and bus driver for the Prairie
Grove Independence Church southeast of Guthrie.
Logan County Special District Judge William Wheeler, who
held Hoefer's preliminary hearing this week, ordered him
bound over for trial and set his formal arraignment for Jan. 11.
Assistant district attorney Laura Austin Thomas said the
victim testified during the hearing that he was fondled
by the minister while he and his 13-year-old brother spent
the night at Hoefer's house.
