Molesting claim eyed


Police are investigating a complaint that an 11-year-old
girl was molested by a church organist and volunteer youth
sponsor, an official said.
Cpl. Randy Lawmaster said the girl's parents filed a complaint
with police Thursday, accusing Robert Horton, 29, an organist
and youth sponsor for Yale Avenue Christian Church, at 3616
S. Yale Ave., of molesting their daughter on more than one
Horton is not in custody.
Pastor Mike Albert said Horton, who has been dismissed,
was employed by the church for about six years. He refused
to comment further.
In 1981, Horton was convicted in Oklahoma County District
Court of oral sodomy and was given a two-year suspended
sentence, a spokesman for the Department of Corrections
A year later, he was convicted of indecent or lewd acts
with a child under 14 in Oklahoma County and lewd molestation
in Lincoln County. He was sentenced to four years and to
two years, the spokesman said.
