Former youth pastor turns self in on sex abuse charges
2002-07-04 Tennessean.com

A former Jackson youth pastor accused of sexual misconduct turned himself in to police yesterday morning after a grand jury on Monday charged him with rape of a child, rape and sexual battery.

Curtis Hudson, 33, is charged with one count of rape of a child, three counts of rape and seven counts of sexual battery by an authority figure, according to the arrest warrant. The former associate pastor for youth at First United Methodist Church is accused of raping and having sexual contact with three male teen-agers who are members of the church.

Hudson yesterday was taken by deputies to the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex to be held until his arraignment, Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork said.

Jackson Police Department started investigating Hudson in June after allegations were made by church youth.

Charges were not filed until Monday. The indictment remained sealed until yesterday.
