PORTLAND
-- A Little League coach and church volunteer pleaded innocent to 26
counts of rape, sodomy and sex abuse.
Derrick Mayberry was indicted by a grand jury on Tuesday
and entered the plea on Wednesday.
Mayberry, 23, was arrested May 15 on accusations of raping two
teenage girls he met while volunteering at the New Beginnings
Christian Center in northeast Portland. The victims were 13 and 15
years old.
The suspect also worked as an educational assistant at Whitman
Elementary School in Portland. Investigators say they've found no
victims at the school or on the team that he coached.
